ASP Documentary

This near hour long documentary follows the ASEA's first ever drama group as they prepare for their performances and go through their everyday lives.  With help from a TELUS Community Foundation grant, videographer Jason Ludwig follows director Trent Wilkie (Mostly Water Theatre) and a myriad of autistic thespians as they prepare and perform two of their self written plays.

A product of close to two years of filming, the documentary focuses on the players and their lives.  Through interviews, candid moments and live performances, the troupe allows the viewers into their lives for a brief glimpse into what it is to live with autism.  This documentary shows how the drama group acts as a vessel for the players to be amongst people like themselves and a safe environment away from the critical eyes of "neurotypicals".

Using drama as advocacy, these players cover the topics of living with autism, normalcy and what it is like when you are diagnosed.  Filled with whimsical insights from the perspective of people for whom the world is one big question mark.
