Autism Edmonton enhances the lives of people on the autism spectrum, through knowledge, services and inclusive opportunities.

Remembering the life of Deborah Barrett 1952 - 2021

We were deeply saddened to learn of Deborah's passing. Our deepest condolences to the entire family.
Deborah joined Autism Edmonton in 2001, and her dedication and commitment made her a leader unlike any other. Starting as the editor of Autism Today, Deborah soon became a member of the Board and then President of Autism Edmonton. For nearly two decades, she has led and supported countless fundraising events and community initiatives, including advocating for adults on the spectrum and advancing employment opportunities. These and many other contributions to this community will not be forgotten.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later (safer) time when we can gather and honour her life and her legacy.  Below is information about how to be informed about the celebration of her life from her family, and a link to her obituary.
"In keeping with Deborah's indelible zest for life, her family have chosen to hold a celebration of life at a later time when Deborah's vast community can gather together to comfort one another and honour her incredible spirit. Those interested in being informed can email deborahbarrettmemorial@gmail.com and request to be notified when an event will take place."
